Why am I struggling to lose weight?

This should be an easy question to answer, right? You’re not sticking to your diet or you’re not exercising enough?

Whilst this might be the approach of many Personal trainers and so called weight loss coaches, at M10 we go quite a lot deeper in our quest to help you achieve the body of your dreams. This article is going to explore some of the reasons you won’t have necessarily thought about when you think about fat loss.

Despite what you have heard, weight loss isn’t all about diet and exercise. Very rarely do I come across someone who is healthy and fat. Health is such a large component of fat loss and it is often undervalued.

If your body is malfunctioning before you start a diet, you will probably end up joining the many people that either hit a plateau or rebound the weight they lost straight back on again. By fixing your underlying malfunctions in your body, you can create a healthier and more efficient system, which will make it a lot easier for your body to lose fat permanently.

Below are some of these malfunctions that can occur together with some top tips to help address them:

Stress

In todays hectic world we are constantly fighting against stress. Money, work and lack of sleep are all levels of stress that can cause people to have elevated levels of the stress hormone called cortisol. If left unchecked, high levels of cortisol can cause your immune system to weaken, damage the health of your digestive system, it can cause the thyroid to get out of balance and also lead to a condition known as insulin resistance.

If any of these forms of stress are left unchecked, you will find fat loss very difficult.

My top tip for managing your stress levels is to make sure you go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning. You must make sure you get at least 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night consistentl
